Deoghar

Deoghar district (pronounced, Devo ka ghar) is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand state in eastern India. Deoghar, the central city of the district, is also its administrative headquarters. This district is known for the Baidyanath Jyotirlinga shrine and is a part of the Santhal Pargana division. Deoghar is a Hindi word meaning abode (‘ghar’) of the Gods and Goddesses (‘dev’). Deoghar is also known as “Baidyanath Dham,” and “Baba Dham,”

Deoghar is a holy city beside the Mayurakshi River, in the East Indian state of Jharkhand. The ancient Baba Baidyanath Temple complex is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site. Nearby, Shiv Ganga is a sacred pool where devotees of Shiva bathe. There is a shrine to Krishna in the ornate, stone-carved Naulakha Mandir temple. Northeast of town, Harila Jori is the site of a whitewashed Shiva temple and a sacred water tank.

Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple

The Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple, commonly referred to as the Baidyanath Dham, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India and is considered to be the most sacred abode of Lord Shiva. Located in Deoghar division of the state of Jharkhand, the large and magnificent temple complex comprises of the main temple of Baba Baidyanath, where the Jyotirlinga is installed, along with twenty-one other significant and beautiful temples.
Baba Baidyanath Dham Temple is visited by millions of devotees during the Shravan mela every year. It is especially spectacular, as they carry water from the Ganges River in Sultangaj 108 km away, to the temple. The line of devotes is rumoured to stretch the whole 108 km, without an interruption

Basukinath Temple

Located in the Dumka district of Jharkhand on the Deoghar-Dumka state highway, Basukinath is a popular place of worship for Hindus. The most famous attraction at Basukinath is undoubtedly the Basukinath Temple, and lakhs of pilgrims visit the temple each year from all parts of the country to worship Lord Shiva, who is the presiding deity. The crowd at magnificent the temple drastically increases in the month of Shravan, when not only local and national tourists but also international visitors visit. It is widely believed that the Basukinath Temple is the court of Baba Bhole Nath. The temples of Shiv and Parvati are located just in front of each other in the Basukinath Temple. The gates of both of these temples open in the evening, and it is believed that Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati meet each other at this time. Thus, devotees are asked to move away from the front gates of the temple. Other small temples that are dedicated to different Gods and Goddesses can also be found inside the compound.

Tapovan

Located just 10 km from Deoghar, this place has a temple of Shiva called Taponath Mahadeva and a number of caves are also present there. In one of the caves, there is a Shiva lingam installed and it is said that Sage Valmiki came here for penance.

Naulakha Mandir

The Naulakha Mandir is located in Deoghar, Jharkhand. Famous for the Baba Baidyanath Dham Temple, this temple is just 1.5 km from the main temple. 146 ft high, this temple is edicated to Radha-Krishna. Since its construction cost Rs. 9 lakhs, it is also known as Naulakha (Nine-Lakh) temple. This temple is very similar to the Temple of Ramakrishna in Belur.
This temple was built on the donations of Rani Charushila of the Pathuria Ghat King’s family in Kolkata, West Bengal. Greaving the deaths of her husband and son, she went seeking healing. She was advised by Sant Balananda Brahmachari to construct this temple.

Shivganga Sarovar

It is a small pond of water and this water of the pool is considered holy. People believe that bathing in this holy water can cure many diseases. Shivganga is situated 200 m away from the Baidyanath temple. Many devotees take a holy dip in the water before visiting the temple.
There is also a small Shiva temple near Shivganga. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva had created this pool of water by striking his fist on the earth, when he was not able to find water to wash his hands after urination. He was on his way to Lanka. He wanted to purify his hands before carrying the lingam in his hands

Trikut Pahar

Trikut Pahar is one of the most exciting tourist destination in Deoghar, where you can enjoy Trekking, Ropeway, Wildlife Adventures and a safe natural retreat. It is also a popular picnic spot and a place for Pilgrimage. In dense forest on the uphill lies the famous Trikutachal Mahadeva Temple and the hermitage of Sage Dayananda. Trikut Hills contain three peaks and the Highest Peak goes to the height of 2470 ft from the Sea Level and around about 1500 ft from the ground making it an ideal location for trekking. Only two of the three peaks are considered safe for trekking while the third one is inaccessible due to its highly steep slopes. The Ropeway takes the Tourists to the top of main peak only. An exciting 360 degree view of Deoghar is available from the Top of Trikut Pahar.
