Vrindavan

Vrindavan also spelt Vrindaban and Brindaban, is a historical city in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is located in the Braj Bhoomi region and holds religious importance in Hinduism as it is believed in Hinduism that Krishna spent most of his childhood days in this city Vrindavan has about 5,500 temples dedicated to the worship of Krishna and his chief consort Radha
It is one of the most sacred places for Vaishnavism traditionVrindavan is a significant part of the “Krishna pilgrimage circuit” which also includes Mathura, Barsana, Gokul, Govardhan, Kurukshetra, Dwarka and Puri.
Vrindavan has an ancient past, associated with Hindu culture and history, and was established in the 16th and 17th centuries as a result of an explicit treaty between Muslims and Hindu Emperors,and is an important Hindu pilgrimage site since long.

Bankey Bihari Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, in the holy city of Vrindavan in the Mathura district. Bankey Bihari was originally worshiped at Nidhivana. Bankey means “bent in three places” and bihari means “supreme enjoyer.” The image of Lord Krishna stands in the Tribhanga posture. Haridas Swami originally worshipped this devotional image under the name of Kunj-bihari (“Enjoyer of Lakes”).
‘Bankey’ means ‘bent’, and ‘Bihari’ or ‘Vihari’ means ‘enjoyer’. This is how Krishna, who is bent in three places, got the name “Bankey Bihari”.

‘Bankey’ means ‘bent’, and ‘Bihari’ or ‘Vihari’ means ‘enjoyer’. This is how Krishna, who is bent in three places, got the name “Bankey Bihari”.

Shri Krishna Balaram Mandir or ISCON temple

The Shri Krishna Balaram Mandir, situated in the Raman Reti area of Vrindavan, holds a special significance for the devotees of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. This grand temple represents the fulfilled dream of Srila Prabhupada, Founder Acharya of ISKCON, who wished to construct a temple of unparalleled beauty for the worship of the transcendental brothers Krishna and Balaram in the same village where they played more than five thousand years ago. Srila Prabhupada directly oversaw all the aspects of design and construction and personally called the Lord to come and accept the worship of His devotees from around the world. He said, “Lord Balaram is the source of spiritual strength, and I have built this temple just to give strength to the devotees”.

Radha Raman Temple

Shri Radharaman Ji appeared in the samvat 1591. The temple was built in samwat 1645. Nearby is Samadhi of Shri Gopal Bhatt Ji who established the temple and service of Shri Radharaman Ji. History: At the age of thirty, Gopala Bhatta Gosvami came to Vrindavana. After Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's disappearance, Gopala Bhatta Gosvami felt intense separation from the Lord. The Lord instructed Gopala Bhatta in a dream "If you want my darshan then make a trip to Nepal". In Nepal, Gopala Bhatta bathed in the famous Kali-Gandaki River. Upon dipping his waterpot in the river, he was surprised to see several Shaligrama shilas enter his pot. This is how he found the Shaligram. A very interesting incident regarding his appearance is famous. Shri Gopal Bhatt Ji Maharaj was doing the service of Shri Shaligram Ji with all sincerity. Once Shri Gopal Bhatt Ji felt the strong desire that “If the feet, hand and other parts of my Shaligram Ji could be seen, then even I could bedeck him with ornaments.” This is what happened. Shri Shaligram Ji showed his leela. Next day when Shri Gopal Bhatt Ji went for the daily service he had the darshan of the feet, hands, and face. There was no end to the Joy of Shri Gopal Bhatt Ji.

It is believed to be the sacred abode of Lord Krishna. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple is enshrined by gorgeous idols of Radha and Krishna.
